Local Tip

Combine it with a walk around the Pueblo. Benalmádena Pueblo is worth exploring in its own right, with whitewashed streets, the Butterfly Park, and views stretching to Gibraltar on a clear day. The Saturday market is a reason to come early before the village gets busy with day-trippers.

Check Availability

Every Saturday morning, the Recinto Ferial Los Nadales in Benalmádena Pueblo hosts a small neighbourhood market. Around 20 stalls line the fairground along Calle San Miguel, selling clothing, footwear, leather goods, fresh produce, books, jewellery, and household items from 9am to 2pm.

This is the quietest of Benalmádena's four regular markets, a fraction of the size of the Friday market at Tivoli. But the setting makes up for it. Benalmádena Pueblo is the original hilltop village, well above the coast, with narrow white streets and a pace that's entirely different from the resort below.

What to Expect

With 20 stalls spread over roughly 100 metres, the market takes 20-30 minutes to browse thoroughly. Stock is practical rather than tourist-facing: clothing, shoes, bags, and produce for weekly shopping alongside a few accessories and decorative items.

  • Clothing and textiles: Everyday wear, t-shirts, summer dresses, scarves.
  • Footwear and leather: Sandals, bags, purses, belts.
  • Fresh produce: Fruit, vegetables, and seasonal items.
  • Flowers and plants: Cut flowers and potted plants.
  • Books and magazines: Second-hand titles, mostly in Spanish.
  • Jewellery and accessories: Low-cost costume jewellery and watches.

Prices are low. Most vendors are regulars from across the province.

The Pueblo Setting

The market sits in Benalmádena Pueblo rather than the coastal districts of Arroyo de la Miel or Benalmádena Costa. The village sits at around 300 metres altitude, significantly cooler in summer than the seafront below.

After the market, the village itself is worth an hour. The Parque de la Mariposa (Butterfly Park) is a short walk away. The streets are quiet, the bars open early, and the views on a clear day reach the Rock of Gibraltar.

Do's

  • Come early for the best selection
  • Explore the Pueblo after the market
  • Dress for altitude - cooler than the coast
  • Bring cash in small denominations

Don'ts

  • Expect a large market - 20 stalls only
  • Drive into the narrow Pueblo streets unnecessarily
  • Miss the views from the hilltop
  • Confuse this with the Friday market at Tivoli

Getting There

The market is at the Recinto Ferial Los Nadales on Calle San Miguel:

  • By car: Park at the edge of Benalmádena Pueblo and walk in. The village centre has limited parking.
  • By bus: Bus M-103 connects Arroyo de la Miel with Benalmádena Pueblo.
  • From the coast: 10-minute drive up the hill from Arroyo de la Miel.
  • On foot: A steep uphill walk of 30-40 minutes from the train station at Arroyo de la Miel.
