Market + Gourmet, Since 1881

Steps from Granada Cathedral, the Mercado de San Agustín has served the city centre since 1881.

Unlike food courts that merely call themselves markets, this is a real provisions market; fishmongers, butchers, and greengrocers with a gourmet dining section added to the renovated 1970s building.

The hybrid concept: 600+ fresh products to buy, plus bars where vendors will cook your purchase to order.

History

The market stands on the site of Granada's old convent of San Agustín.

After the convent's demolition in the 19th century, the space became a municipal marketplace.

The current building dates from the 1970s but received a major renovation adding the San Agustín Gourmet section, a collection of bars and dining counters that complement the traditional stalls rather than replacing them.
