Cádiz's Newest Market
Mercado de la Barriada de La Paz is what happens when a neighbourhood demands its market back.
After years without a dedicated public market, residents of La Paz campaigned for a new hub, and in 2019, this modern, glass-fronted building opened its doors.
It's small, just 11 stalls, but perfectly formed. Clean lines, natural light, and quality over quantity.
This is a privately managed market hall designed for the community it serves.
History
The La Paz neighbourhood went years without proper market facilities after its original market closed.
Local residents and business owners pushed for renewal, and the result was this purpose-built hall as part of a wider neighbourhood regeneration plan.
The 2019 opening brought modern design principles to a traditional market format with glass frontage, tiled details, individual signage, and wide aisles that make the compact space feel open and bright.
